Exciting local developments in Teacher Training
The i2i Teaching Partnership are very pleased to be able to announce several new partnerships between themselves, West London based Thamesmead SCITT, Southampton based Wildern Partnership SCITT and Hampshire based Basingstoke Alliance SCITT.
In a climate where a secure and positive experience for all young people in their time in education has never been more important, Teacher Training is a crucial part of ensuring that students receive the high quality education that they deserve. As the Government must wrangle with the challenges that are faced by schools, providing high quality training for passionate potential teachers is more vital than ever. The landscape of teacher training is currently experiencing its biggest changes ever, and during this time of transformation, local teacher training provider the i2i Teaching Partnership SCITT (School Centred Initial Teacher Training) is proud to be part of a new reaccredited national network of teacher training providers.
The i2i Teaching Partnership SCITT is a highly regarded Ofsted Outstanding specialist secondary teacher training provider, based at Weydon School in Farnham, Surrey. With a network of partnership schools across Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire, i2i has trained and qualified over 270 new teachers since 2013, providing high quality teachers for schools in the local community. In 2019, i2i opened a new training centre in Reigate to provide greater training opportunities in the region. Earlier this year, i2i entered into a new partnership with Thamesmead SCITT, extending their reach and opportunities into West London. These latest partnerships with Wildern and Basingstoke Alliance will build upon this success and strengthen the opportunities for potential teachers even further, reaching across Hampshire, Basingstoke, Portsmouth, Southampton and Winchester.
Liz Wylie, Director at i2i, sees this as “...an amazing opportunity for teacher training to develop across our communities at a time when joining education has never been more exciting or inspiring. New teachers entering the profession will have studied the best curriculum ever provided, which is fully immersed in research. Teaching is a powerful, rewarding and exciting career.”
The new team will be working tirelessly to ensure we are in an excellent position to deliver the new teacher training curriculum from September 2024 as part of the new reaccredited national network of ITT providers.
This means our local community will benefit from a continued and growing source of highly trained newly qualified teachers with a shared vision of providing the young people in our community with the high quality education they deserve.
