"I love nothing more than getting stuck into a favourite text that my students then also get excited about.  To have such energising and creative discussions every day about my own passion is just the best!"

Charlotte Bellini, English Teacher Weydon School

Why train to be an English teacher?

The chance to guide young minds as they begin to understand and question the world around them is a true privilege. An English teacher gets to do this every day. Be it through Shakespeare, modern literature, articles, speeches, debates or poetry, a good English teacher has the power to open the minds of all young people from all backgrounds.

How will i2i train you to become an English teacher?

Explore. Debate. Create.

Our inspiring English programme will prepare you to explore with your students the power and impact of the spoken and written word, and to celebrate language as a means of interacting with the world and its diversity. You will be mentored and taught by highly enthusiastic and experienced teachers, encouraging and supporting you to apply your knowledge and skills to create inspiring and engaging lessons.

In addition to weekly Professional and Pedagogical Study Sessions, trainees will have seven English Subject Studies with our experienced English Subject Tutor.  You will have the opportunity to explore evidence based approaches to all aspects of English teaching. Designed and lead by your English Subject Tutor, each session encourages debate around research, attitudes and approaches. You will then have the opportunity to create resources and lessons using evidence based approaches. Each session sends you away with a clear task that allows you to put your new learning into practice, which is then shared and discussed in the following session.

Every day as an i2i English trainee offers a new opportunity to inspire and be inspired.
