Sarah Burrell

Art Subject Tutor

Sarah has been the Head of Art at Amery Hill School for more than 10 years. Throughout this time, she has led and delivered a range of Art GCSEs including Art, Craft and Design, Fine Art, Three-Dimensional Design and Textile Design. Sarah has a BA(Hons) in History of Art and Design from Southampton University, where she studied at the Winchester School of Art. Sarah loves the way she can use her passion for art history to enthuse the students that she teaches by combining it with the practical techniques and skills they are developing. In her spare time, Sarah is also a practicing artist and enjoys nothing more than getting out her paints, canvases and easel.

Sarah has always been passionate about Art education; focusing on the importance of keeping the themes and concepts we teach fresh and appropriate in the ever-changing world we live in. Engaging and enthusing all learners, guiding them to reach their full potential in her subject has always been her main motivation. Sarah feels it is a real privilege to be able to work with the Trainee Art Teachers on the SCITT programme, to share her skills, experience and passion with them; in order to help them discover the teacher they wish to become.
