Teach@Weydon (now i2i Teaching Partnership) was perfect for me because the course is an advocate of experiential learning. Having the opportunity to be in a school and part of the team from day one is a fantastic opportunity and I truly believe it has made me the professional I am today.
Throughout my training year I was encouraged to take risks and progress at a speed which I felt comfortable. The support which I received from my mentor was second to none and I truly couldn’t have done it without her. Whilst she taught me the vital building blocks needed to become an outstanding teacher, she also taught me that my training year was about the journey; a journey which does not end of a high unless you have endured the necessary lows. Consequently I felt more confident progressing into my NQT year knowing that it is natural to not get it right all of the time. The reason why I went into teaching is because I wanted to help students realise and achieve their dreams no matter how big or small they may be. Reflecting upon my training, a clear highlight was having the opportunity to be a tutor. It is such a privilege to be involved with students from a pastoral perspective and I found not all training courses offered this.
