Maria Mezzullo

i2i SCITT Director (WMAT Director of Teacher Development)

Maria has over 15 years teaching experience across 3 different schools and across GCSE, A Level and International Baccalaureate courses. Having led the History departments in 2 different schools and been Head of the Humanities Faculty for 2 years here at Weydon she is now the Director of the i2i Teaching Partnership.  Her passion for this role is contagious! Maria is proud to be playing a key part in nurturing the next generation of teachers and ensuring that the training they receive during the year long  programme equips them with the passion and tools they need to become successful and inspirational teachers.

Maria’s “WHY?”
Maria became a teacher first and foremost because of her love for her subject (History) and a desire to share it with the next generation.  Maria is a firm believer that as a teacher you have immeasurable power to do good through your teaching and to really change lives; she has lost count of the ‘light bulb moments’ she has witnessed in class, when a student suddenly grasps a concept or is able to piece an idea together.  It is through those moments that lives are changed forever.

Outside of work Maria loves to run and bake (not at the same time!) and has a passion for reading. Amongst her favourite books Maria lists Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden and To Kill A Mocking Bird by Harper Lee.
